چکیده

Spectral distortions (deviations from a Planck distribution) of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) are potential sources of information on the thermal history of the Universe. So far however they escaped detection. We suggest a different observational approach useful to discover Bose–Einstein distortions. ! 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. Interpretation of the Extragalactic Radio Background

We use absolutely calibrated data between 3 and 90 GHz from the 2006 balloon flight of the ARCADE 2 instrument, along with previous measurements at other frequencies, to constrain models of extragalactic emission. Such emission is a combination of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) monopole, Galactic foreground emission, the integrated contribution of radio emission from external galaxies, a...

On the effect of cyclotron emission on the spectral distortions of the cosmic microwave background

We have investigated the role of the cyclotron emission associated to cosmic magnetic fields on the evolution of CMB spectral distortions by considering the contributions by spontaneous and stimulated emission and by absorption in the computation of the photon and energy injection rates. These cyclotron emission rates have been numerically compared with those of the relevant radiative processes...

Thermalization and Spectral Distortions

Distortions To be continuously transformed with other things is to be untransformed once and for all. The CMB exhibits a perfect blackbody form to the precision of current measurements. The deviations from the intensity of a blackbody are no more than 3 × 10 −4 of the peak intensity [116]. The question arises: how does the blackbody spectrum form and how is it maintained? We have seen in Chapte...

Cosmological reionization after WMAP: perspectives from PLANCK and future CMB missions

The WMAP first year detection of a high redshift reionization through its imprints on CMB anisotropy T and TE mode angular power spectra calls for a better comprehension of the universe ionization and thermal history after the standard recombination. Different reionization mechanisms predict different signatures in the CMB, both in temperature and polarization anisotropies and in spectral disto...
